Myth & Mantra: Shiva, the Adi-Yogi

A Two-Part Experience of Story, Practice, and Song

with Rob and Melissa Lundsgaard

Saturday, June 21

Prepare to go deep into the inner realms of your yogic experience and the heart of yoga tradition with an exploration of Shiva, the Adi Yogi — the first yogi and the source of all yogic wisdom. Through storytelling, mantra, meditation, and movement, Rob and Melissa — husband-and-wife kirtan duo, yoga teachers, and acclaimed recording artists — will illuminate Shiva’s role as the Adi Guru, the original teacher who first shared yogic knowledge with humankind.

This event is a two-part experience, beginning with a focused workshop and followed by a large, community kirtan session. Join us for one or both of these offerings and experience the depth of Bhakti in a way that is both accessible and deeply resonant!

Workshop | 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Kirtan | 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

BYC // Granary Ave. Studio

Workshop Only | $45

Both Workshop & Kirtan | $60

(4) Continuing Ed. Units*

Through the workshop, we’ll uncover the legends and adventures of this powerful deity, while reflecting on their symbolic wisdom and relevance today. You’ll engage in practices designed to help you access your own true Shiva nature — chanting sacred mantras, meditating on the essence of Sat-Chit-Ananda (truth, consciousness, and bliss), and integrating movement to deepen your connection to his timeless teachings. At the heart of this exploration is the path to self-awareness — the greatest gift Shiva bestows upon us through our practice.

After a break, the evening unfolds into a soul-stirring Kirtan, where Rob and Melissa’s signature blend of heartfelt melodies and Bhakti wisdom will create a space of devotion, joy, and community. Whether you’ve chanted for years or are experiencing the magic of Kirtan for the first time, this gathering is a special opportunity to lift your voice and immerse yourself in the shared vibration of sacred sound alongside two of the Northwest’s most respected kirtan artists, whose music and presence have touched hearts in yoga communities around the world. Scroll down to learn more about Rob & Melissa and to have a listen!

*Yoga teachers must attend both the workshop + kirtan to earn (4) CEUs toward BYC’s 300-Hr Advanced Yoga Studies Program or Yoga Alliance continuing education hours.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY FOR TRAININGS

Registration for all events, including trainings and immersion workshops, is non-refundable. However, if you cannot attend, you may transfer your spot to another person by contacting us via phone, email, or in person.

We understand that plans can change, but our no-refund policy helps us maintain the quality and sustainability of our offerings. Organizing events requires significant time, effort, and resources from both the studio and our teachers. In addition, many of our trainings & workshops have limited spacing — last-minute cancellations not only prevent others from attending, but also affect the viability of the event for our dedicated instructors. As a small, local business, your understanding and cooperation not only helps us support our teachers, but also allows us to continue providing enriching experiences for our community!
