Class Styles

Vinyasa

Vinyasa yoga emphasizes the sequential movement between postures, coordinated with and guided by deliberate breath. Each class varies depending on instructor's background and trainings, but all flow classes incorporate dynamic movement, strength based poses, some longer held shapes, creative sequences, and alignment cues to keep you progressing all set to a great playlist. Class temperature is set around 78-80 degrees to begin, but can vary due to class sizes and pace. All levels welcome.

Hatha

A slower paced, non-heated class emphasizing alignment and refinement of yoga asanas (poses). Most classes are thematic, aim to strengthen, stabilize and lengthen muscle groups in the body toward a peak pose. Classes are often educational and intend to teach safe alignment as a way to balance, heal, build strength and functional mobility. Class temperature is set to 75 degrees. All levels welcome.

Gentle

This is a mindful, alignment-based class that moves gently through yoga poses. A practice designed to be accessible to beginners as well as more experienced students. Modifications are offered to enhance individual expression and experience. Students are invited to move at their own pace to develop a deeper sense of self-awareness, flexibility and strength. This class will offer the opportunity for students to find a place of balance and peace. Pranayama (breath practice) and brief meditation often included. All levels welcome.

Yin

Often described as the other half of exercise, Yin Yoga is a meditative practice which offers space to unwind, support the nervous system, reduce stress, and promote relaxation. In class you can expect to move slowly through gentle poses supported by many yoga props, holding each pose for several minutes and taking time to explore mindfulness and breath. Designed to support and maintain mobility, long-held yin poses allow time and space for the work to penetrate the deeper connective tissues to release habitual holding patterns in the body. A complementary practice to more active movement styles of yoga and great for all levels, Yin Yoga is a balancing practice to the pace of modern life. Class temperature is set to 73-75 degrees. All levels welcome.

Yin + Restore

A class designed for deep relaxation that uses time and many supportive props to hold the body in an experience of deep rest. This class includes a short slow and gentle practice to balance the nervous system, and moves toward progressively longer held postures that weave in the wisdom of yin, restorative, and mindfulness traditions. In a world that is oriented toward doing, this cozy class style offers an invitation to just be and to experience the healing states of parasympathetic nervous system activation. Class temperature is set to 73-75 degrees. All levels welcome.

Therapeutic Yoga

This slow-paced class is an opportunity to practice with a seasoned yoga therapist. Classes typically begin with simple, somatic movement on the floor and build to alignment-based strength and mobility sequences, increasing overall awareness. Following the prajna yoga tradition, anatomy, pranayama, poetry, and the wisdom of Buddhist philosophy support and enrich the practice. Deep rest then facilitates holistic healing. Class temperature is set to 73-75 degrees. All levels welcome.

Mantra & Pranayama

This heart-centered class combines a vinyasa style asana practice with mantra (yogic chanting) and pranayama (breathwork). Rooted in tradition, the energetic-based practices offered in class explore deepening the relationship to spiritual heart, mind and body with the intention of cultivating greater presence, love, and awareness. All abilities are welcome with modifications offered to those who desire a less strenuous asana practice.
